DROP-OFF / PICK-UP PROCEDURES    

Arrival and Dismissal Schedule

Due to ongoing construction on the south playground, all students in grades K-5 will arrive and be dismissed on the north side of the building until the project is complete later this fall.

  • The parking area behind the stone building on the north side will be for the arrival and dismissal of kindergarten and 1st grade students.
  • Students in 2nd through 5th grade will use the regular location by the north playground doors.

Daily Schedule:

  • 8:15 AM: Adult supervision will be on the north playground.
  • 8:30 AM: First bell sounds, alerting kindergarten and 1st grade students to line up.
  • 8:35 AM: Second bell sounds, alerting kindergarten and 1st grade students to enter the building. After they have entered, students in grades 2-5 will then enter the building.
  • 8:40 AM: Third bell sounds, indicating the start of the school day. Students arriving after 8:40 AM must enter through the main lobby doors.
  • 3:00 PM: The dismissal bell sounds. Kindergarten and 1st graders will be escorted to the parking area behind the stone building for dismissal. Students in grades 2-5 will be escorted to the north playground. Adult supervision will be available until 3:15 PM for all students.

To ensure the safety of all our children, it's crucial that everyone uses the crosswalks at all times. Our parking lot is an active driveway with staff arriving and departing throughout the day, so please be extra cautious. 

 

 

 

 Inclement Weather Arrival Procedures:

  • Kindergarten, 1st students will arrive through the main entrance
  • 2nd - 5th grade students may use the main entrance or north playground doors.
    • A staff member will be stationed at the north playground door until 8:45. All students entering Midland School after 8:45 should enter through the main entrance.

 

 

Inclement Weather Dismissal Procedures:

  • All Kindergarten, 1st students will be dismissed from the small parking lot regularly used for dismissal promptly at 3:00PM. 
    • Students NOT picked up by 3:00PM will be held in the cafeteria.  Parents will need to walk through the gate leading to cafeteria doors to pick up their child at 3:00PM 
  • 2nd - 5th grade may use the main entrance or north playground doors.  
  • Students should have a predetermined meeting place / dismissal plan with their parent or guardian to use during inclement weather dismissal. 
  • Older siblings should join younger siblings at designated dismissal area. 

 

Driving Reminders: 

  • Cars picking up or dropping off MUST travel NORTH on Midland Avenue and turn RIGHT into and out of the Midland Circle.
  • NO left turns are permitted. This causes significant traffic delays and is a safety hazard.
  • Driving Arrival & Dismissal procedures will be the same, rain or shine.

 

 

Important Additional Information

  • Kindergarten and Grade 1 parents/caregivers must walk onto campus to drop off and pick up their child on the North Playground.
  • Please meet your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and or 5th grade child on the North Playground and NOT in the school driveway. Parents should use the gate leading onto the basketball courts to access the North Playground. 
  • We encourage families to walk or bike to school, if possible, due to the limited parking. We also ask that all parents model how to cross streets safely, using crosswalks and following directions provided by our traffic monitors.  
  • Please do not cross the entrance or exit to the Midland circle during arrival and dismissal. We ask that families use the sidewalk that leads past the main lobby when walking along Midland Avenue during these busy times for your own safety.
  • NO double parking, and NO dropping off Southbound on Midland Avenue. Parking is NOT allowed at Rye Rec.
