WHAT A YEAR!

As the school year wraps up, I am filled with gratitude for everything our amazing Midland community has made possible.

Thanks to your support, here’s just a small snapshot of what the PTO accomplished together this year:

Cultural Enrichment
All students enjoyed fully funded field trips to destinations such as the Emelin Theatre, Norwalk Aquarium, Native American Museum, Bronx Zoo, Greenburgh Nature Center, and Boundless Adventures.

Teacher Support
Grants were provided for classroom essentials like books, shelving, flexible seating, and supplies.

STEAM Programming
Exciting, hands-on science programs took place like High Touch High Tech and Science BOCES helped spark curiosity and learning.

Community Events
Hosted beloved events such as the K Bubble Afternoon, Midland Fair, Movie Night, Pumpkin Patch, Bingo Night, and 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Dances bringing our community together.

Cultural Celebrations
Diversity was celebrated through the Cultural Fair, new cultural books for the library, Japanese Children’s Day, and Diwali and Lunar New Year craft events for students.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
Every classroom received support for SEL with dedicated Calm Down Corners.

Author Visits
Students were inspired by visits from acclaimed authors Mackenzie Cadenhead and Sarah Albee.

Outdoor & Playground Enhancements
A successful Thrive campaign raised funds for a new K–1 South Playground. Additional outdoor improvements, including ball wall repairs and facilitated recess with Dave Mangum Sports, were also completed and funded.

Environmental Initiatives
Earth Week gardening, Rye Nature Center Bus visits, and Bike to School Week encouraged students to explore and care for the environment.

5th Grade Traditions
Gifts, celebrations, and special events were provided. From yearbooks, hoodies, and hats for every graduate to Beach Day and the 5th Grade Play.

Community Service
Through REACH, impactful initiatives were organized, including clothing drives, holiday gifts with Midland Elves, Service Week, and drives for canned goods.

Fundraising Highlights
Events like the Midland Social, Yankee Game Day, and the Read-a-thon helped us raise vital funds for our school.

Teacher Appreciation
Gratitude was shown all year with monthly treats for our dedicated teachers. From a hot chocolate bar and heart-healthy breakfast to meals on conference days and hosting events on Teacher Appreciation Week.

Inclusion & Welcome
To foster a more inclusive Midland community, new committees were created: the Working Parents Committee, Kindergarten Welcome Committee, International Family Welcome Committee, and Digital Wellness Committee.

This list is just a glimpse into what’s been a truly outstanding year.

This year’s success was a team effort.

THANK YOU to all the committee chairs, our amazing 2024–2025 Executive Board, and every Midland family who gave their time, energy, and heart.

Lastly, congratulations to Ms. Bianca McHale and Ms. Lauren Linder on receiving tenure this year, and to Ms. Marie BrennanMs. Mary Bellofatto, Ms. Martha Enes, and Ms. Angela Borzacchini on their retirement.

Wishing you all a relaxing & joyful summer!
